Oh my God, WOW.

I wasn't expecting much from this film. In fact, I didn't know it existed until a week or so ago. And it blew me away.

Guillermo del Toro is like Tim Burton when it comes to distinctive art styles. So there was a ton of the swirly, surreal, and just plain friggin cool to be seen. I accepted the fact that this could have been the only saving grace.

BUT IT WASN'T.

It was AMAZING.

It had almost nothing to do with humans. It had underground markets and cities and gears and OMGFLAIL.

And heres what I love. They made a male Elf that I could deal with as a character, not just a pretty. Prince Nuada, you win. And not just because you took off your shirt.

Sometimes I fear otherwise good movies because they make them too dorky. The comic relief moments just make you cringe. And while this movie skirted those lines, it zapped you right back by going, 'Alright, enough subplot, lets have some more killing.' They walked a fine line and pulled it off.

Se this movie. I cannot stress it enough.

Even if the physics of certain elements CONFUSES THE HECK OUTTA ME.
