Star Wars: The Best Movies Ever
Sep. 16th, 2008 01:56 amGod, it has been years since I watched these movies. And its strange how much they've changed.
The first versions of the original three Star Wars films were kind of corny, sure. But it was Star Wars! And then George Lucas went back and changed some things, added others, making it better! (see: Hans shot first, except that he kinda didn't...)
But what I didn't realize is that he'd gone back again, in the space between the tape releases and the newest additions to the story, and made even MORE changes!
Did anybody else notice that?
I've seen the extended ending to Return of the Jedi, and loved it! But since when were there Gungans? That one's new. And I'm pretty damn sure that Hayden Christensen wasn't acting when the final ghost scene was shot the first and second time around. And yet, there he was.
I'm. Well. I hate the last two newbie movies. But I'm just happy that, even though childhood memories aren't going to serve when it comes to these films, they all link together now. The subtle differences are smoothed out, so later generations would never really be able to tell which set of films came first.
But they will probably still look at each other askance with the whole Luke/Leia thing.
I'm weird, but even I'm sketchy on that one.

ps- Han Shot First. Even when he didn't.
