So, I'm repairing my messanger bag because its about four years old and falling apart.

Never was all that stable, its one of those novelty bags made with polyester and paperboard.

Anyway, the velcro that holds the flap down has long since bit it, and I'm braving the French railway system again in two weeks time, and in May, Paris. So, I need something a little more secure.

On top of that, the bottom corners are fraying to the point on nonexistance.

So I's gets a brilliant idea.

Cut two corners off of a bandanna to patch the sides, and use the rest to make a tie-catch for the flap. Smart, no?

So I go shopping, find a bandanna for a reasonable price (in a pretty color), and I have the thread and needle already. And then I see it. The zipper selection. Its perfect!

I could zip my bag shut!

Awesome!

So I buy a zipper, a nice one with metal teeth and zip.

And when I get home, I realize that I vastly overestimated the size of my bag. It is not, in fact, 65 cm long.

Didn't look that big in the store.

So, I'm back to Plan A, with a big o' zipper hanging around for no reason. Bye bye, 6 euro.

::skritches head:: Ah, whatever.
