so pissed off
Oct. 30th, 2011 03:31 pmRepublican presidential candidate Herman Cain says, "Don't blame Wall Street, don't blame the big banks, if you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself!"
And that is a fucking quote.
Apparently, 99% of Americans can be wrong. Because it's our fault that we can't send our children to school because they are overcrowded and falling apart. It's our fault that we have to get a mortgage to buy a home and take out a loan to get an education that won't get us a job, anyway. It's our fault that we face down superflus and incurable diseases without the faintest hope of being able to afford health insurance. Unending wars and corrupt corporations and a total failure of our government to take the steps necessary to preserve even the most basic of human needs couldn't have anything to do with it.
You're absolutely right. Our bad.
Dear GOP,
Eat all the dicks.
Love,
The 99%
BUT!
Glenn Beck is running scared from Occupy Wall Street, which just warms the cockles of my anarchistic little heart.
And that is a fucking quote.

then again, I might be wrong
Nov. 2nd, 2010 08:16 pmJesus Christ, America. I went and voted, okay? And we still have a goddamn Tea Party senator in Florida, so forgive me if I'm not completely overflowing with faith in our system of electoral government.
This country is driving me crazy and I'm tired of being told that I have a voice in this, when clearly money is a lot louder than I am.
FUCK.
Thank fucking God Christine O'Donnell didn't get in, because I would have just burnt my Social Security card and called it a fucking day.
I do not like politics. I do not like stupid, bigoted people being put into power and fighting tooth and nail to preserve 'the American way of life' when the American way seems to only work out for the overbearing retirees of this country.
I'm tired of having to fight for my education, for my health care, for my right to be employed and paid the same as everyone else, for my pension some miles down the road. I am tired of being young in a world controlled by the old.
In case anyone was wondering why Americans are so bitter right now? This would be why.

::fade out next and lazy::
Mar. 23rd, 2010 08:34 pmThe Health Care Reform Bill passed, and I kind of want to put my head down and cry with gratitude.
I will freely admit to not knowing every little detail about this bill, and I am realistic in my expectations of hiccups and issues.
But its hard to be upset about high-income people being taxed and Medicare being cut when I now know that I am going to have health insurance until I am stable enough to buy it for myself.
I'm a poor college student, desperately waiting for pay day so I can buy tampons. This is big news, for me. It's a fact of life for my age group that, if you get sick, you're fucked. You're going to have to pay for a doctor's visit, possible medications, and god forbid if you get injured and need therapy of any kind. Most of us are uninsured because, hell, our parents' coverage stopped when we turned 23 and we sure as hell can't afford to buy our own, yet.
Now I know that I will have health coverage until I am 26. This will give me ample time to get on my own two feet, financially, as opposed to living hand-to-mouth.
I now know that I can't be dropped from my coverage because I get sick.
I now know that my children will be able to get affordable coverage, even if they have preexisting conditions.
Man. This is kind of awesome.

If you are reading this right now, you have more luxury than someone in Iran could ever hope for right now. If you are watching TV or a video on youtube, updating your status on Facebook, Tweeting, or even texting your friend, you are lucky. If you are safe in your home, and were able to sleep last night without the sounds of screaming from the rooftops, you need to know and understand what is happening to people just like you in Iran right now.
This matters, people. We may feel helpless, but we at least know its happening.
