I woke up this morning to groggy exhaustion and rain. Almost immediately, I began to mentally rail against morning classes, their rigors and expectations, and the inconveniences of school altogether. Why should my entire life hinge on one class, dead early in the morning? Why should the next ten years of my life be dedicated to endless study and rewardless drudgery?

Answer I came up with? It doesn't have to be.

This insane economy aside, there's plenty of other occupations and choices I can make. I'm a fucking freshman. There is not a reason in the world for me to narrow down my choices to one life-long pursuit, because I may have found the drive to do well in my college classes.

So, I choose to take it as it comes. If I epically fail Philosophy, a class I hate, and Anatomy lecture, a class I'm losing my affection for at an alarming rate, then I will reevaluate, regroup, and move on. I refuse to let my whole future ride on one god damn grade. There's more out there than that.

Is that naive? I don't think so. Theres safety in the young Republican approach to existence, but ask me how enthusiastic I am about that.

Its not that I don't like what I'm doing. Its just that I don't like what I'm doing.

EDIT: It helps to remember that Monday is not permanent. Theres is other life, out there.
