Stem cell research may be the savior of us all. The applications are limitless and will benefit everybody, not just us godless heathens who let unrealized baby batter be put under a microscope.
And if the government can find the money to fund wars, they can damn well put money towards, oh, I dunno, curing cancer.
And yes, as with all things, this research could be used for not-so-altruistic purposes.
