Repo! The Genetic Opera
Jan. 25th, 2009 09:05 pmFor those of you who don't know, (and this is most of you), Repo! The Genetic Opera is a rock opera, written by Darren Smith and Terrance Zdunich, and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman. For those who still are clueless, a rock opera is basically a musical, with heavier instrumentals (Andrew Lloyd Webber this aint, and don't give me that Jesus Christ Superstar bullshit, you friggin pansies) caught on film. Look up Tommy, if you're still confused.
The basic plot is that in the near future, organ failure becomes widespread, killing millions. In response to the crisis, a company called GeneCo begins offering organ transplants with payment plans, so that everyone has access to this miracle. The only problem is, organ repossession is legal, so if you miss a payment, a repo man will come and remove the organ from you, in the most gruesome way possible.
I'm not big on spoilers, so go watch the movie if you want the rest.
( My thoughts on the subject. )
