it's in the water
Jul. 27th, 2011 05:08 pmYesterday my school sent out an e-mail advising us that there was a possibility of our water being contaminated, and that we should refrain from drinking it until they could run tests.
They also said that it was safe to shower in, but there wasn't a person going anywhere near their shower last night, I promise you.
They gave us the all-clear, and this morning I read that LJ is expecting a DDoS attack and that is why crossposting has been kind of 'eh' for the last couple of days.
I'm torn between annoyance and that sick glee I get from seeing someone stick it to the Man. Annoyance because, if LJ crashes, there will be a lot of unintended causalities and that will suck for the ones who lose years of invested writing and posts. But the fact remains that LJ has shown to be in favor of censorship and heavy-handed administration, deleting blogs for containing 'inappropriate content', and I can't make myself sympathize with the site for getting a taste of what that feels like.
That said, the motivations of the DDoS attackers have yet to be announced, so this could very well be the personal grievance of one 16 year old kid sitting in his parent's basement. But, again, don't care.
Huzzah anarchy.
